Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship

In keeping with the purpose to provide educational opportunities, the CAPITAL Foundation awarded two scholarships through the Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship program.

Jennifer Ku
Jennifer is a straight A student at Lynbrook High in Fremont. As a member of 4H, Jennifer was part of team that started "Teens Teaching Teens" — a domestic violence project that included
  • making domestic violence awareness presentations at local high schools
  • writing a curriculum booklet on how to present a domestic violence assembly
  • Jennifer also tutors AP Chemistry.

    In addition to the $1000 scholarship from the CAPITAL Foundation, Jennifer received the highest honor of the Friends of the California State Fair.  As the top applicant, Jennifer received an additional $5000 scholarship. She will be attending the University of California, Berkeley next year.


    Anna Yang
    Anna ranks 9th in her class at Atwater High School and has a 3.8 GPA. While maintaining her academic excellence, Anna has been active leader in the Merced Sheriff Winton Explorers. In her 2 years in the Explorers program, she has served as:
  • Sergeant of Administrative
  • Lieutenant
  • Captian

  • Anna received $1000 in scholarships funds from the CAPITAL Foundation. She will be attending California State University of Stanislaus.
